Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announces indictment of Marquita Burch

Today, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters announced the indictment of Marquita Burch (DOB 7-25-85) on one count of Gross Abuse of a Corpse (Felony 5) and one count of Tampering with Evidence (Felony 3) in the death of 13-month-old William Cunningham.  If convicted of all charges, she faces the possibility of 4 years in prison.

Burch was babysitting William Cunningham in the weeks prior to his death. Today’s indictment accuses her of hiding William’s body in a closet in a cousin’s residence in Hamilton County.  She later reported him missing from a park in Covington, Kentucky.

Additional testing by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is still pending.

Prosecutor Deters commented, “These are the initial charges to hold the defendant.  Charges involving the death of the child will be presented to a grand jury at a later time.”
