Richard Chain

Chain calculated and carried out the brutal crime of aggravated murder. He drove from Dayton, Ohio, to Cincinnati, Ohio, with a loaded firearm. He went to the victim's home where he announced his arrival by firing shots through the victim's windows. The victim was then hunted down inside his own home, where the defendant fired shots at point-blank range into his chest. The victim collapsed and died within minutes. Chain then fled the scene and attempted to retreat back to Dayton. He was, however, apprehended by the Butler County Sheriff's Department, at which time he gave a statement admitting to the killing. He indicated that he killed the victim because he believed the man was sleeping with his wife.

The defendant is up for early parole due to the recent Hall v. Hageman decision
